Corporate Tax Services

For most limited companies, Corporation Tax is one of the single largest cheques written to HMRC each year — and one of the easiest to get wrong. Pay too little and you risk penalties and interest; pay too much and you have quietly handed over profit you were entitled to keep. The difference almost always comes down to the quality of the advice behind the return.

Agnon is a firm of Chartered Certified Accountants and a registered statutory auditor based at Kelvin House, Kelvin Way in London Gatwick. We prepare and file Corporation Tax returns for companies across Crawley, Horley, Horsham, Redhill, Reigate and the wider Surrey and West Sussex area — making sure every allowance, relief and deduction you are entitled to is claimed, and that your CT600 is filed accurately and well ahead of deadline.

More than a compliance exercise, we treat Corporation Tax as something to plan for all year round, not scramble over at year-end — because the opportunities to save are almost always found before the accounting period closes, not after.

How Corporation Tax is worked out

Corporation Tax is charged on your company’s taxable profits — broadly your trading profit plus any investment income and chargeable gains, after allowable deductions and reliefs. The rate depends on how much profit you make.

The main rate is 25% for companies with profits over £250,000. A small profits rate of 19% applies where profits are under £50,000, and companies in between benefit from marginal relief, which tapers the effective rate between the two. Those thresholds are also divided between associated companies, which catches a lot of business owners out — and is exactly the kind of thing we check.

The tax is payable nine months and one day after the end of your accounting period, while the CT600 return itself must be filed within twelve months. Larger companies may have to pay in quarterly instalments. We keep you the right side of every one of these dates.

R&D tax credits & reliefs

A surprising number of companies miss out on Research & Development tax relief simply because they do not think their work counts. If your business is developing new products, processes or software, or solving technical problems where the outcome was not obvious, there may well be a valid claim — and it can be worth a significant reduction in your tax bill or even a cash credit.

We review your activities honestly, prepare a robust claim under the current merged R&D scheme with the technical and financial narrative HMRC expects, and submit it correctly. Just as importantly, we will tell you plainly if we do not think a claim stacks up, so you are never exposed to a challenge later.

The same eye goes on every other relief available to you — because tax saved legitimately is profit kept.

We agree a clear fixed fee before we start — whether that is your Corporation Tax return on its own or as part of a full accounts and tax package. No hourly meter, no surprise bills. Where our planning saves you tax, the advice very often more than pays for itself.

Frequently asked questions

What is the current Corporation Tax rate?+

The main rate is 25% for companies with profits over £250,000. A small profits rate of 19% applies where profits are under £50,000, and marginal relief tapers the effective rate for profits between £50,000 and £250,000. These thresholds are shared between associated companies, which we always check for you.

When is Corporation Tax due, and when must the return be filed?+

Corporation Tax is payable nine months and one day after the end of your accounting period. The CT600 return must be filed within twelve months of the period end. Larger companies may have to pay in quarterly instalments — we plan for all of these dates so nothing is ever late.

How much do your Corporation Tax services cost?+

We charge a fixed fee agreed in advance, either for the Corporation Tax return alone or as part of a wider accounts and tax package. After a free consultation we put a clear price in writing. Where our planning reduces your tax, the fee often more than pays for itself.

Can you help with R&D tax credits?+

Yes. Many companies miss out because they do not realise their work qualifies. We review your activities, prepare a robust claim under the current merged R&D scheme with the narrative HMRC expects, and submit it — and we will tell you honestly if we do not think a claim stands up.

What are capital allowances and can I claim them?+

Capital allowances let you deduct the cost of qualifying assets — equipment, vehicles, tools, fixtures and fit-out — from your taxable profit. Between the Annual Investment Allowance and other allowances, most companies can claim more than they realise. We make sure nothing eligible is missed.

What happens if HMRC opens an enquiry into my company?+

We deal with it for you. We respond to HMRC on your behalf, prepare the information they need and represent your company throughout, so the process is handled calmly and professionally rather than landing on your desk.

Can you reduce my Corporation Tax bill legally?+

Yes. By claiming every relief and allowance you are entitled to, timing income and expenditure well, and planning the most efficient way to extract profit, we make sure your company pays what it owes and not a penny more — all fully within the rules.

How do I get started?+

Call +44 1293 519386 or request a free consultation. We will review your company’s position, answer your questions and set out a clear plan and a fixed fee — with no pressure and no obligation.
